Corner Cafe
The Federal Government sets healthy guidelines for school lunches. We call it “Putting more on your plate.” Students will receive at least half a cup of fruits or vegetables or a combination of both. A few other healthy changes are half of the grains each week will be whole grain, offering fat-free flavored or unflavored milk, no foods with trans fats, and no fried foods. Our Cafe team works hard every day to provide a variety of baked or steamed foods each that all the students enjoy.
A Student Lunch is $3.50. School lunches include an entrée, fruits and vegetables, whole grain rolls and milk. Our Café still offers various extras/extra entrees sold daily (listed on each month’s menu). Each student will have an account that allows you to pay for extra entrees and a-la-carte items in advance. Parents can send in money/checks for cafeteria accounts or use a program called My School Bucks which gives families control over adding money (for a small fee), checking balances, and setting alerts. Go to myschoolbucks.com to set up an account.
We are a participant of the “National School Lunch Program”. We are able to offer free/reduced lunches to students K-8 who qualify as such. Preschool students are not eligible for this program due to restrictions made by KDE. FREE AND/OR REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS are made available through the Café, school office, and our website. The application is confidential, as is the student’s lunch account. We encourage all families to apply for this program. If your situation changes anytime during the school year, please do not hesitate to apply or contact the Cafe for more information.
